Susan Kasey: Bio

Hi everyone, I'm Susan Kasey.
I'm so happy you took the time to pop in and see what's happening with me and my music.

Let me tell you a little about myself. I'm a singer/songwriter from Southern California. I've been singing ever since I can remember and taught myself how to play the guitar, so everything is played by ear. Among my prized possessions are my three guitars, a blue 6 string Ovation, a black 12 string Adamas Ovation (seen on the cover of Down This Road) and my Guild.

When I began recording Down This Road , I thought it best to try and be as versatile as possible, so in January 2009, I purchased a Casio keyboard and taught myself to play it. It has been so much fun learning how to play and being able to progress on it. Two of the songs on the album, In The Meantime and It's Gonna Be Alright were written on that Casio keyboard. Seeing that I was picking it up, I asked my producer Raul Ochoa if I could add my playing styles to more of the songs on the CD, so into the studio I went to re-record the keyboards on some more of the tracks including the songs Down This Road and Not The Same .

My musical influences are Canadian singer Anne Murray. Anne is the one who had the greatest influence on me vocally. She will always remain my all time favorite singer. Lyrically, I would say that the late great Dan Fogelberg was a top influence. Dan's poetic style of songwriting are in my opinion some of the best out there to this day. My influence with guitar is the incredible Melissa Etheridge. I just love the way she plays a guitar. I think the energy she gives off when she plays is absolutely infectious! These artists are individuals I have an immense respect for and am proud to have been influenced by each and every one of them.

I've always wanted to record an album, and working on Down This Road was a joy! The experience was very interesting and very educational. The album almost never happened. What started out with three songs I wanted to record for the fun of it turned into a complete CD with 11 tracks of songs I had written. I'm so thankful for the connections that made it possible for me to record this CD. Working on this project was a dream come true for me.

Down This Road was released in January 2010. In February 2010, I had the great fortune of having the radio show Coast To Coast AM with George Noory, choose my song, River Of Love to be aired as part of their Emerging Artists segment- February 7, 2010. Being played on the radio was another dream come true for me.

Again, I would like to take this moment to thank you for dropping by. I am grateful for your interest in me and my music. It is my pleasure to share my music with you. With your continued support, I will be able to share even more in the future.

I am excited to now be a part of the music industry and I look forward to an amazing career. I invite you to come along on this journey with me.
Thank you so much.
I'll see you there!

Peace and Love - Susan
